nothing really stands out or that is surprising about this, YouTube has taken the place of “mixtapes” being sold hand to hand and catching the eye of record labels. but bc now billboard and other platforms recognizes it, now it will come down to “technology manipulation” and ppl vying for a way to make their views appear authentic when in fact most of all this views are not even “human” views. nobody, i repeat nobody, will be taken seriously in the age of social media until they are “endorsed” by a already established brand, person, and/or company at some point in their preliminary phase. Period. you said this in your video “it has nothing to do with talent” it’s about buzz. hip hop community has relinquished control and have allowed record labels to control the flow of things even though, the artist and producers are the bread n butter.
